Exclamation winsecure:HELP!

I have a virus on my comp through winsecure that got onto my comp somehow (no clue?) Its become a major virus. I cant open or run ANYTHING. Absolutely no programs, not even my add/remove programs app. It pops up a window saying "application cannot be executed. The file.... is corrupted." It brings this up literally every 5 seconds or so. It cancels all of my downloads and has pretty much shut down everything possible. All I can get on is the internet and even with that the window still pops up. Any ideas?

Do you have all of your important stuff backed up? If so just format the hard drive and start over.

Well depending on the OS you can either try a system restore or you can format the hard drive and then load your OS etc over again.

I use Kaspersky. It isn't a be all end all though. Just had to do what I described to my wifes computer because kids websites are horrible and she would let the girls go to them. I ended up booting the puter in safe mode getting what I needed off of it and the rebooting it and holding down the F11 key to force it to system restore.

Most AV systems are pretty much the same. Go with a well-known brand name like Norton (which I use), McAfee, Kaspersky, Computer Associates, Trend Micro, etc. It can't prevent you from doing something stupid, like going to a known bad site, but the better ones at least prompt you to tell you are about to go to a suspicious site.

The thing to remember is keep your definitions updated and run periodic scans (like weekly) to clean up the crap. Unfortunately, there's A LOT of bad stuff out there.
