Virus Scanning Programs

My computer came with Mcafee which to me seems like junk. It never picks up ANYTHING on the computer, not even small cookies and such that most scanners normally pick up. Im looking to the guys more familiar with these programs to help me out with a better, more productive scanning program. any help would be great guys, maybe some links too

Norton is about as worthless as the Mcafee.

Google Mbam download that. Google Ccleaner download that. And then pick up Webroot SpySweeper with AntiVirus. That combo will get rid of anything If you dont want to buy spy sweeper download AVG antivirus of the web

CCleaner - Home Download this and run it first. This will clear any cookies you have on your machine.

This is Mbam Malwarebytes.org Run this after Ccleaner

This is Spy sweeper. Spy Sweeper – #1 Award-winning Antispyware Detection and Removal

Very long download time. Might be easier to pick up at best buy if you have the chance on that one

This is AVG free AVG Free - Download Free Antivirus and Antispyware for Windows 7, Vista and XP

Make sure any existing anti virus you have is turned off before you download this one if you use it. It will scan for viruses as soon as it installs.

You have to make a decision though between AVG and the spysweeper software. Those two dont play nice together. However whichever one of the two you choose will work great

I've used the free AVG the last couple of years and have had no problems. Before that I had Norton and McAfee and they both sucked. Over priced and they didn't protect against much.

Norton and McAfee dont view most adware as threats. Whats funny is Mbam views norton as a threat and asks if you want to delete it
