XP admin screen
Alright, I admit, I haven't been on the desktop support side of things for a while.
In the startup process of XP, there's a point in which you can press a key, and it will bring up the login for administrator. I for the life of me can't remember the key, or the spot in which you press it. I believe it is when the first flash screen comes up saying starting windows. And I know it's one of the function keys. Help please? |

I was thinking F3.
Just start it up and mash one of the Function keys starting with F1. If that doesn't get it restart and mash F2 then F3 etc... Or maybe I can find it online for you. Be right back. |

Home edition, right? Here ya go.
The Administrator account is not displayed in User Accounts unless the computer is in Safe mode. To change the password for the Administrator account: Click Start, click Turn Off Computer, and then click Restart. After the computer completes the Power On Self Test (POST), press F8, and then click Safe mode. NOTE: If you have difficulty getting to the Safe mode menu command, press F8 repeatedly after you turn on the computer. Log on as an Administrator, or with another account that has Administrator permissions. Click Start, click Settings, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts. Click the Administrator icon. Click Create a Password or Change my password. Type a password for the account, and then retype the password to confirm it. Type a hint to help you remember the password in the event that you forget it. Click Create Password or Change Password |
