Introduction to Cobb's Diesel Performance

Since 1972, Cobb's Auto Parts, INC has been operating in Loudon, TN. Cobbs Auto Parts was founded by John Cobb Sr. and began they're ventures as a Big A Auto Parts store. Business began to grow leaps and bounds in a heavily industrial area. In 1991, a new building was built a 2 story, 8,000 square foot facility at 822 Mulberry Street with a Full-Service Engine Machine Shop capable of producing anything from street engines up to 900 HP Dirt Super Late Model Engines. In 1996, Cobb's Auto Parts changed over from BIG A Auto to NAPA Auto Parts to increase parts availablility. In 2004, John Cobb Jr. (myself) upon graduated from High School took over the Assistant Manager role and began making changes to bring Cobb's Auto Parts above and beyond the competition. Things started out small with just a simple website and taking advantage of NAPA's E-commerce solutions via our local customers. Myself, being a huge diesel fanatic got a 2004 Ford F-250 6.0L as my graduation present. Well, the mods ensued and before ya know it the ole' 6.0 was running extremely well. We started trying to sell Diesel Performance Parts back in 2005 but just couldn't at the time compete with the local Diesel Performance Shop because we couldn't get dealer licenses for products they were selling. About 2 months ago, the local shop got shutdown by the IRS. Thats when the phone calls began and Cobb's Diesel Performance was formed. I began contacting major manufactures and warehouse distributors about getting the pricing and buying the volume required to compete. Things have really taken off locally so we decided to get into the E-commerce business with the diesel stuff and here we are 2 months later starting our advertising relationship with Powerstroke.org and the AutoForums Family. In this short period of time, we have served nearly 200 clients and the calls continue to grow day by day. We at Cobb's Diesel Performance look forward to serving you for years to come and anything you need feel free to call us don't be hesitant. We may be new in a sense to the Diesel Performance world as a Company but we still have years of knowledge and over 35 years of rock solid foundation as a Corporation.

Now, about my relationship with Matt of Spartan Diesel. I have been a friend of Matt's for 2+ years. We began our friendship by PM's over at FTE, wierd as it may sound, and it just grew from there. I ran Matt's tunes on SCT's back before Spartan was even a notion. Matt went to the University of Tennessee for a while for some engineering classes and we hung out a few times and tore up Knoxville, TN a few times in the ole' 04 F-250 which is now the "Race Truck." I will however never forget passing a cop running about 130 or so on I-640, boy that 6.0 is bad fast. After Matt's stint at UT ended we still kept in touch and then began talking more after we both our 6.4L's. I was one of the first to get my DashDaq and have been nothing but happy with it since. I did also do a small project for Matt. I designed the Spartan Diesel Gauge Skin that can be found in the Spartan Forum. After I finished that project I inquired about being a dealer and the rest is history. Talked with Matt on Monday and plans are next year, having a dyno day at our facilities so stay tuned!

Have to ask... any relation to Cobb Tuning out of Utah? They specialize in Subarus but have expanded to the EVO and now the new Nissan GT-R.

So here's the million dollar question John. Say I or someone else were to buy a Spartan Phalanx from you. Are we basically buying the dashdaq, or will you coordinate the custom tune creation through Matt. Or would we still need to e-mail Matt for the tunes?
