CSP Leadership Nominations, and Discussion

All right folks, as not to clutter the chat thread, I'd like to open this thread up to nominations/discussion/etc. concerning a change of leadership in CSP.

Director:
Jeffrey (Rattlesnake18) - Current Director:
Currently intends to step down from the position. Position is open for Nominations / Discussion a vote for a new Director will be pending.

Nominations:
Gene (Gene) - Self Nomination
Benjamin (colo_dually) - will step up in a limited manner (hard to attend GTG's out of the state)

Assistant Director:
Drew (drz400smoto) - Current Assistant Director:
Will step down, on the condition of two new folks taking over. Position is open for Nominations / Discussion, a vote will be held should there be interest, and Drew steps down.

Nominations:
Brian (bigwheelsbigtires) - Self Nomination
Benjamin (colo_dually) - will step up in a limited manner (hard to attend GTG's out of the state)

Historian:
John (ROUGE TEXAN) - Current Historian:
Currently intends to step down from the position. Position is open for Nominations / Discussion a vote for a new Historian will be pending.

Nominations:
Avery (ferraricaxtu) - Self Nomination
Jeff (coassist73) - Self Nomination


Western Slope Coordinator:
Jake (6.go anderson) - Current Western Slope Coordinator.
Has made no statement of stepping down.

I am willing to step up to the Director / Assistant Director as long as y'all understand its on an organizational level only. I will be tied up with the orders I am currently under, going to sea and deployments, and I don't know the next time I'll be in the State for a GTG.

Current List of Nominees that haven't listed a Position:

If anyone doesn't intend to step up before we start the polls, give a shout early and I'll pull your name off the list. If you want a particular position, annotate it and I'll put you in that listing.

I will update this first post with the nominations of those who want to step up and take on this. CSP as a whole has been on a lull lately, and I think we should also give at least 2 weeks of nominations before we decide a time frame for a vote.

We also need to determine a deadline for the polls to be setup, I don't intend to see this dragged out unnecessarily.

Let's hear y'alls thoughts on the matter.

The subject has been brought up to ammend the By-Laws to limit Officer terms for a single calender year, to allow new folks to get more involved and grow this chapter. (This will be a 4th Poll placed for a vote on July 20th.)
As the by-law is currently written:

VI. Removal of Officers

Elected board members may be removed from office by a two-thirds majority of voting members. A vote for removal will be posted and left open for no less than 14 calendar days. Grounds for removal include, but are not limited to, failure to perform the duties of the office, or any actions which bring discredit to the chapter or Powerstroke.org.

My recommendation, as follows:
VI. Election and Removal of Officers

VI.a. Election of an Officer of CSP will carry a 1 calender year term, with the new Officers taking office August 1st. At the termination of that year, a currently serving CSP officer may choose to run for a re-election for the following year for the same office, or move to a different position within CSP. (**For Further Discussion** Are we going to limit the time any member can serve as an Officer?)

What is the responsibility of the historian?

As best as I understand it, try to make it to the GTGs, or at least get forwarded the pics in the GTG section. Keep track of the events that CSP gets involved with.

The historian helps take pictures and videos at events, get the word out when events are planned, pretty much helps the rest of the directors try to keep things organized and moving forward.

Trying to keep track of everything and keep all members informed can be tasking at times, so having a member that can spend some time coordinating things would be beneficial to the chapter as a whole.

Well I got a decent camera and will be trying to make it to as many of the g2g's as possible. I know I'm pretty new but I'll nominate myself for that.

I'm headed to Lake Powell later today so I wont be with the internet for a while, until the 15th, but I'll check in when I get back.

After a bit of soul searching on this, I would like to add my name to nominate myself for the position of Director.

Jeff, you've done a great job as director for our organization, and I understand why you are stepping down. Thank you for the time you have given to the club.
