Camping in the Carolina's

I was wondering how many members use their rigs to pull campers with and some of the places where everyone likes to go.

I’ve got an Outback 30RLS pull behind and a couple of my favorite places to pull it are to Dan Nicholas, a family style campground near Salisbury, NC and Willowtree in Longs, SC., near the beach.

It should be great to learn about different Parks I haven’t tried yet and maybe see some of ya’ll at one of our trips. Give me a holler if you see my black F350 with it's CPA sticker on the back glass.

Steve

Hi Steve!
Welcome to the org. and the CPA! I don't camp but I live in the middle of an area where thousands do! I live a couple of miles from Table Rock State Park (SC) and about 15 miles from Devil's Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee. Jocassee is an absolute awesome place to spend time.

I enjoy James Island campground outside of Charleston. We go there once or twice every year in a 31' Mallard TT. If anyone has kids I highly recommend going down for their Christmas light show. It is second to NONE. It has a little train that you can ride through the lights and you can also drive your vehicle through the other portions. One of the best run CG's I've been to but it's tough to get reservations for the Christmas show dates. I'd be willing to bet they are almost booked up during that timeframe!

We also go to Apache Campground in North Myrtle Beach. We usually work it out where we get an end of the isle spot and we are beachfront, stumble out of the camper and onto the sand. It's not a flashy campground but the end of the isle spots if available are the best spots to park an RV in all of Myrtle Beach.

I'm hoping to get a new 5'er soon and get out a bit more, actually went shopping this weekend and if I can get the price where I need it to be we'll be in it in a week or two.

We want to get up to Pigeon Forge/Sevierville in November and back in January. We were just up there 2 weeks ago. My wife had the vehicle squatting after we got done shopping at Tanger Five Oaks. We usually go to a condo up there 3 times a year but I think it's time to start checking out the CG's up there. We scouted a few out a couple weeks ago. Looks like we may try River Plantation towards Sevierville. It was pretty nice from what we saw.

I have a 31ft bumper pull and I love to camp. One of the nicer cg's around me is Goosepoint outside Stuart VA. The KOA in Fancy Gap is also very nice, Mountain Stream above Marion NC is a beautiful place as well. I would love to go camping with some of y'all. Next year I am taking my trailer to SSS 09.

My mom has told me about Jocassee, but I haven't been there yet
If you like peace and quiet, which my wife and I do, We like Crabtree Meadows , near Mt. Mitchell on the Parkway. Another place we have been that is spectacular is Tallulah Gorge Campground in GA.

There's a cool place in Morganton, NC called Steele creek. It's pretty cool it has a creek that runs through that is accessible from about every site. Also has a waterslide, big swimming area in the creek with a high dive.

idk just a thought. Alot closer to me anyways

Steele Creek is a nice campground....have they reopened the slides? I heard someone say the water had gotten so low last year they had to close them for a while.
