Ok guys, me and c0ckededdiesel are trying to get a Canoeing/Camping trip planned for August the 11th, and 12th.

It's on the New River and the canoeing portion isn't really that challenging, it's more like floating down a river while drinkin' booze.

There are camp sites right on the river. I have canoed the river in High school, but never camped there, maybe c0ckeded Diesel can chime in and explain the camping, but from what I understand the site offers spots that you can pull/back into and a little space to put a tent for each truck. This may come in handy if both Belz and Tom make it--(lover's quarrel.)

Let's try to make this thing happen, I know that there hasn't been a gtg in a while and the ones that have been started fizzled out due to lack of interest.

If the dates don't work with everyone, we can change that but for now lets see how much interest there is in this. If we get enough people to go there may be discounted rates. I know it's far for some people, but it's close for the Western NC people, and the only recent gtg's were in the Raleigh area.

I say weekend of freedom, but it can be either way. Girlfriends/ wives that can hang are welcome.

I will be leaving the wife at home, but I guarantee she would be able to hold her own if she came.

Ok...I am back to my civilian job to damn early this morning and I will post some more info. Gonna call today about group rates etc. Let me know if you would like to go and/or thinking about it so I can get a approx number.

Ok gave them a call to get a group rate and they need a approx number of people to give a quote.

If we're each just to call and make a reservation it would be $19 per campsite for 2 people. So if you are going to do some spoonin' and or cuddlin' it would be cheaper LOL!

BASIC TENT SITES
$19.00 per site for two people. There is a $4.00 charge for each additional person, but children under six years of age are free. Reservations may be made with a $19.00 deposit.
Our tent sites are shaded and grassed. All sites have a picnic table, lantern post, and fire rings. The check in and check out time for all campsites is 4:00 p.m.

They also have cabin rentals if some dont like tents etc. Its all listed on the website.

You also dont have to canoe...you can just tube if you want. No effort but to hold the beer can in your hand

AS FOR the old ladies...I am not bringing my wife....but its up to you guys....

I *should* be able to make it. Looks like a fun trip. I guess I'll have to see how much canoe/tube rentals are. Do would this be a Saturday, Saturday night, and Sunday thing?
