Another Idea is wrap yourself in duct tape. The duct tape will protect you from being stung. Then you can spray the nest with insecticide.

Looks pretty close... Like I said, they're at least 2 or 3 inches long.

could be a paper wasp too

It is usually yellow with brown markings or black with red or yellow markings. These wasps are aggressive and they readily sting. People are usually stung while trimming shrubbery or cleaning nests from eaves of houses.
