Camper Fire Update

Well they were suuposd to come with a low boy today and pick it up, I went up to the camper this morning and picked up all the remains of it and tossed it all back in. Next I hooked up to it with my SD and it wouldn't budge. I decided to change 1 of the flats and put the spare on and then it was able to roll. The wrecker service called and got directions but when I told them all the slides were out they said that they would have to have a permit to hual it becuase it was to wide guy said he'd call right back but never did. I was finally able to manually get one of the slides in all the way and one on the other side went in almost all the way also. I called the wrecker service back and told them that it was hooked up to my truck, was moveable, and that the only slide that was out was the small bedroom slide. They said great, we might can pick it up next week. Man I got mad, my insurance person told me that I didn't have to do anything that the wrecker service would take care of all of it. Well be the guy that I am I just did them a hole bunch of work and then they wouldn't even come. I called the insurance company back and they said that they would be sure to let the adjuster know that I did all the work that way the wrecker service doesn't try to rob them. So I just unhooked it from my truck and it's sitting there waiting to go now. I must say that those power front jacks are nice but when the wirinig's all burnt up and you have to use the old crank handle that SUCKS! Hey what do you know the guy just called while I was typing and said that they would try to be hear tomorrow. YIPPIE! Now just waiting to hear what the Insurance Company is gonna do. I use Nationwide, policy says that it covers Actual Cash Value of the camper. Will this be what a new camper retails for, or will it be the cheapest they can find a new camper just like it? List price on the camper is around $40,000 but you can find them from $30,000 on up.???? Just wondering what to expect from my insurance company?

I would think it would cover up to what the loan on it is for. sence it is pretty new. Or they would replace it with what you have.

I dunno what to tell you about the insurance company. They are some fickle folks. Let us know what ends up happening.

I'd say they will give you what the "book value" is of that model. same as a car or truck. Whatever the current value of it is what you'll get plus the value of the contents that you had it insured for.

My stomach still hurts for you bud... I can only imagine how bad it feels. My trailer is only 24' and nowhere near as nice as your was but it I can't imagine losing it like that.

So would "book value" be the $40,000 msrp or the $30,000 price I can get another one for?

I am sure they will say that there it worth a little less just like when you buy a car. Though Not sure how campers hold their value.

On a side note, I have Nation Wide as well, and a few months ago when I killed a little car, they were very good to work with. I think sometimes you pay a little more for nation wide, but I think you get better service in the end.
