Here is the one that is more in our price range right now. Clear Creek RV Center: Pre-owned 1997 Thor Komfort 25TBS

We really like this 5er just out of the old cash range right now.

Clear Creek RV Center: New 2008 Keystone Challenger 34SBH

If you can get one with a slide, they sure are nice. It seems like so much more room. You can't go too wrong buying one used. If you decide you can upgrade in a couple of years, you won't take a beating like buying a new one.

When I got married 24 years ago my wife couldn't believe that we camped in trailers. She said that wasn't camping. It only took a couple of trips until she was converted. Now she would never go back.

I think camping is one of the best things you can do as a family. I never forgot the great times I had as a kid, so I wanted to give my kids the same opportunities. Now my kids are almost grown. Soon it will be grandchildren.

Good luck.

Whatever we buy right now if it happens will be a stop gap until I retire the first time in a few years. I would rather get the bumper pull now and upgrade to the 5er later. I do agree the slides are nice.

Ok, watch out on the older campers for water damage, we looked at several used fifth wheels and everyone had water damage, wavy walls, weak floors, laminate siding looking wavy, soggy wall paneling, we saw several used fifth wheel Fleetwoods that we're priced great but all had damage. That 1st TT is over priced! You can get a pretty decent used fifth wheel around here for that price, it won't be big and fancy but willl be nice. Check out Sunnybrook, there pretty in-expensive if you decide to go new. Our's is a 08 Sunnybrook Brookside 349 triple slide, all aluminum frame, top, bottom, and sides, gel coat siding, not sheap filon, heated enclosed under belly, bigger oven, bigger water heater, bigger refer.our's is 34'10" long and is the rear lounge model fully decked out with every available option from Sunnybrook and we got it for $29,995 out the door. Other triple slides were lesser trailers and were 10k more.

Josh,
I like your idea about getting a stop gap now and getting the "real one" once you retire from active duty. It will give you a much better idea of what you want and must have in your new unit than what are just nice to have... Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I will def keep ya informed. The stop gap is also because I have no idea how much money I will be making when I get my real job. Anything I get now will be paid off prior to the day I retire from the Navy.

My wife and I went thru three trailers till we found the layout that worked perfect for our family. We bought all used so we wouldn't take the new trailer hit in depreciation. We have finally figured out the stuff we need and don't need for our kids and us as well. When we do decide to upgrade next, we will buy brand new as that will be the one that we keep for the duration. Just a thought on the used vs new argument.
