Calling all Honda generator owners!
I am in the works of getting a 2012 Keystone Lerado 329RE fifthwheel. I plan on getting a honda generator to supply power when i am at the races or dry camping. I have been looking at the 3000UI. A buddy of mine told me to consider getting two 2000's. I need opinions of the ones on here that have owned or own a honda generator please. Also the ones that may have info that can be usefull.....THx in advance.

Either one would work just fine for your trailer for "normal" operation. The two 2000's would be more expensive and provide a bit more capacity, but you'll likely be fine with the 3000. Do you have 50 amp service on your trailer and dual AC units? That might be the ONLY reason to go with the dual 2000's although they may be a bit on the low side for that.
PS. You might want to consider the yamaha generators which have the exact same size, configuration and quiet operation and are usually a few dollars cheaper. My personal preference is the Honda 3000... |

Yes it will have dual A/C's . And it is a 50 AMP camper as well.

Just looked at the specs and the 3000 is 25AMP service, while the dual 2000's are 16.7AMPs each, which equates to 33.4AMPs of power.
In either setup, you would be limited to one AC unit and maybe using the microwave at the same time with the 3000, but the dual 2000's would cover it. You would NOT be able to run both AC's at the same time with either setup. |

yeah i understand not being able to run both A/C's at same time. Just wanted to be able to pull normal things without the worries of popping breakers all the time. Thx for the info

I have a the Honda 3000 (it is a 30amp service) and when the microwave is running and the A/C unit kicks on there has been a few times it has overloaded the generator. Then I have to turn the generator off then back on.
I have thought about getting 2 of the 2000 and linking them together. This is the only time i have a problem. I leave the generator on the "eco-throttle" position most of the time to save fuel. We average about 20-24hrs on a tank of fuel, unless it is really hot where the A/C stays running then we get 12-16 hrs per tank of fuel. If you can find used Honda generator would be good. Do the Yamaha generators have electric start?? |

not sure if the Yamaha has electric start or not. Are they as quite as the Hondas? Probably just going to go with the 2 Hondas. I went and looked at them this weekend. Can get both for the price of the 3000 maybe 150 more with the parallel cables.
