What are some last plans before school starts back up?

What ever happened to to the kid's summer vacation?

When I grew up-we had almost 3 months off...now,kids don't get out until late June, then back before Labor day---WTF??

It seems so short these days, how is every one on here making time for vacation?

I'd love to hear some ideas...My kids are growing up so fast...I want time with them before they get too old and I cramp their style

Haha... My kids have a week of school under their belt already.

They only get June and July off. We're starting to plan next years trips though. Probably pulling the travel trailer to Yellowstone an Mount Rushmore from Atlanta and back.

Are you serious?

Are they public or home-schooled?

Cherokee County public schools in North West Atlanta suburbs. Most of the rest of Atlanta starts Monday and a few stragglers start the week after that.

My kids get a lot of time off throughout the year. A week in September, a week in November, 2 weeks in December, a week in February, a week in April and a few days sprinkled through the year. I wish they had August off instead... The county complain about the A/C bill to cool off schools in August, so I think they'll eventually exten the summer vacation.

Yeah,I'd rather they get less days off during the year so the summer vacation would be longer, but we have snow days too,but I'm a warm weather vacationer

But as far as A/C goes,my county runs it all summer....6-10 janitors cleaning the school, and the whole building system is running-all summer long

Talk about tax waste,if they want cooling while working-do it and run it in sections, because no windows open,so it does get hot
