Honda EU6500IS Generator Troubles
I have a 6500 a couple years old with out a problem till now. I ran it at the beach for two days straight with out issue. Then when I got home and changed the oil it would start but only run for a few seconds then shut down. does this thing have a fuel filter or something i can change in fuel system? It appears to be starved for fuel. Is there any thing else that would shut it down after a few seconds of running? It really doesnt sound rite from the begining. it has about 60 hrs on it. I did rince the inside of the housing with very low pressure water only on the bottom tray to clean up after the oil change. Its been a week, everything should be dryed out but same prob. Any thoughts? Anyone have a link to shop manual?
Update: Bought a new battery, now the display works and it is throwing a P-29 code. The red overload light comes on and it still shuts down after a few seconds of running. Battery hasnt worked for a while but it would pull start fine. Now no dice. |

This one thing i found online
Code e-29 on a EU6500IS stands for GCU (genarator control unit) internal failure or inverter unit internal failure .The cost on a GCU is around $480.00 and the inverter is around $1100.00. On the i-monitor press and hold the button for about 3 seconds and the display will show all the error codes (5 total) . Check if there's any other error codes |

Ouch, thanks for checking that out. Another thing I just found was maybe the GFI has tripped. Will check it out. Where did you find the list of fault codes? Link please.

You're right its E-29 not P-29. Dont know where I got that from. Maybe Pizzed Off code? Dunno. Thanks for the help.

I know some smaller engines like that have a low oil safety switch. Bypass it and see if that's it?

I'll look for that.
Its been a logtime now. Sure is a shame, that was a sweet, quiet generator. Maybe Ill turn it into a go-cart for the kids. They have an ol peddle one now....Oh no, I can hear my wife already |
