Camping with the boys - Virginia

I'm planning a camping trip this spring with my boys. Its a boys weekend! My boys are 3, 11, & 12

But I need some suggestions for where to go?

• No cabins - we are tenting it

• Preferably no paved roads or paved camp sites - we want dirt!

• Somewhere in Virginia preferably somewhere north of Lexington - dont want to spend 5 hours on the road trying to get there - especially with diesel prices on the rise (we live in Southern Maryland - Calvert County)

• We want to have campfires - so no "no fire" rules! We will behave - just want the camp fire.

• Preferably by water - creek, stream, river?

• Something to do in the area - kayaking (hence the camp on the river part), shooting, off road exploring, area attractions, etc???

Thousand trails.

It has a freshwater pond with killer bass, crappie, etc. It is also on the piankatank river so you have the saltwater. Put put, arcade, paddle boat and canoe rentals, volleyball, hot tub, dirt roads, 2 pools, etc. And dj at the gazebo on sat nights is always fun!. That is where I have my membership. It is off route 17
