I've pulled many goosenecks with another truck in the past, I must say I like pulling a fifth wheel or gooseneck much better than a bumper pull, but my fifth wheel is much easier to hook up than any gooseneck I"ve ever seen. Just back under, slide lock, and go, no trying to get the ball right under the hitch and getting out and raising the jacks way up to get the hitch off the ball. I love my new fifth wheel! And with with my sliding hitch I can really turn it!

yep, we're going to the river for the weekend, I've gotta go back home Friday afternoon and get the kids from school so I'm just gonna swing by and grab the boat then. I don't have a reciever on the back of the new camper yet.

I pull a 36ft prowler fifth wheel 15K loaded gooseneck set up. My wood hauling trailers are gooseneck 20ft with 4ft high side boards. Trailer weighs 4500lbs empty. I add 5 cords of cedar and I am pulling around 15,500 lbs to Vegas. Gooseneck works great. Don't even know the load is behind me until I start to climb. Really much easier set up that the standard fifth wheel in the bed hitch. Gooseneck takes up less room and is easy to load.

With the price of corn and feed these days, I can't afford a fifth wheel hitch tearing sacks. I'll go gooseneck every time. I have no trouble hooking up this way. 32' Jazz with gooseneck conversion.

hitch type

Im a full timer.I have a bumper pull 36',14000 lb,but we're getting a King of the Road 5 er .Now I've seen a lot of set ups.I like em all, they work as well as the other. Its what you get use to,but I have never seen a gooseneck in a short bed.
Has anyone ever tired this?

i do it all the time and don't have a problem. Not only a gooseneck utility trailer, but also my 5th wheel has a gooseneck adapter on it as well. Just don't go running a race course with it. Watch your turns and there isn't a problem.

This is my 30' 5er with the gooseneck adapter being towed with my shortbed. I also pull a 26 gooseneck flatbet trailer that has the traditional hitch on it.

A guy i work with pulls his 40' 5er with the same set up all over the eastern seaboard with a 12' enclosed utility trailer draggin behind it.

The gooseneck conversion does not handle as well as the fifth wheel... besides, all that would be in your bed is the flat rails with the pull of four pins the hitch comes out. By handling i mean that the gooseneck transfers more bucking to the truck than the fifthwheel... plus it puts less stress on the trailer side pin..... The way the trailer is set up is always the best way to go is the way I look at it
