Brother In Law Vs. RV.....

Everyone should have a BIL like mine. Went to niece HS graduation. Wife and I decide to take the 5'er down to make things easy. BIL brags about new barn with power. I mention tht I need 50 amp for the trailer. No prob, he says. We arrive and go in to eat. Rig up later when it's cooler.

He bops in proudly telling me that he has me powered up. "110", I ask. He gets this funny look on his face that tells me it's an aw sheet moment. Sure enough. The fuse box could not trip fast enough,I guess. Fried the inverter, TV, stereo, and microwave.

PSD- yea, I finally got one.

I know this is old . . .
Had one of these on a brand new 2011 Jayco last month. Fried the converter, refer heating element, and microwave. Luckily nothing else.

Yep!!

That's called getting hit with 240 volts....not 110/120!

And yes...all the smoke gaskets will let go...and all components are no longer good!

From what I've heard,240 volts only comes into play on a bus generator that's over 10 kw

Everything else is 110.....the BIL had good intentions though

Mistakes do happen though,but never wanted!!
