has anyone replaced an awning?
long story short, my awning filled up with water and streched and bent the rails. my insurance company gave me $980 after my deductable. My local rv dealer quoted me at $776 for the awning assembly and another $250 for them to install. so after tax i would be paying about $120 out of pocket to have it installed or i would be saving alot of money doing it myself. It actually looks kind of hard and i heard it can be dangerous with the springs. has anyone done one of these before that could give me some tips. I am mechanicly inclined, i just have never delt with an awning before. thanks

I put one on my Airstream and had to modify it. I don't think replacing one with one like it can be very difficult. Holes are there, just remove and install.

My wife, daughter, and I replaced the awning on one of our RVs about ten years ago. So long as you're putting one back on an RV that had one before, it's a piece of cake. The hardest part is sliding the awning into the awning "rail" on the trailer. You'll need a few ladders, a scaffold, or a wall the right height that you can park beside, in order to reach it while holding the weight of the roller tube with the added weight of the awning.
