NorCal East Bay Offroad areas

Hey guys,

Are there any cool spots to go offroading near the east bay? Im not talkin about anything supercrazy but something not too far from here to go have fun with the truck. Small rivers beds, mud, dirt etc. I would appreciate any spots. THanks

Swing by Norcal Trucks in Livermore and talk to Nick or Jeff. They will point you in the right direction in the East Bay area (if there is spots). I know Holister has spots south of the East Bay.

Most of the good areas to ride will probably be a weekend thing or vacation time because of the drive. I prefer going down to Glamis and such in SoCal and good riding trials in Tahoe.

Years ago there was. Maybe Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area. Give the web site a look. Mostly a motorcycle area.

So is carnegie basically a small mud pit for trucks?

Looks fun but I am also looking into some trails. Nothing crazy or advanced as this would be the first. Just want to go through a few dips, small streams of water, etc.

I know I’m reviving an old thread but had info to offer.

There is Prairie city. Just NE of Sacramento. 5 bucks to get in. Its pretty small (only 1 days worth really). After a good rain there’s lots of shallow and deep mud to play in as well as some more technical sections. No trails but the mud is fun.

Most anywhere else is going to be a drive like mentioned before. Hollister hills has a good trail system. They have easy trails all the way up to ridiculous trails. I’m pretty sure there are full-size friendly trails.

You can also go north into the Tahoe area, or north east towards Santa Rosa area. There’s Cow Mountain by Ukiah.

I got a book of all the trails in Cali, I forget the name but will try to remember to look at it when i get home latter today.
