Smoke from dash, no lights etc.

Started yesterday when I lost my instrument lights, running lights and OD function. Pulled dash valance, found severed OD column wire, no big deal. Replaced everything, changed fuse under the hood. Headlight switch started smoking and blew the fuse again. So obviously the switch is toast. Where do I go from here? I obviously have a short and certainly don't want to fry another switch without finding where the issue is.

Too many vehicles to keep up with.

Unplugged my trailer wiring and replaced the headlight switch. This time i put a 5A fuse in number 8 just in case it fried the switch, so far it's working. My hazards on my remote start don't work which I assume means I have no trailer light power either. Where do I go about checking now aside from the alarm?

Too many vehicles to keep up with.
