HELP with my Recon Mirror Lights

So, I got these lights for Christmas and am anxious to get them installed. I am not really technically inclined so this is becoming harder than it should be.

Can anyone shed some light? Maybe some tips or tricks, or maybe some that the directions didn't state that is important.

I am at the point where I have popped the tabs and have the larger top mirror removed. I feel like it is extremely simple and there is just one thing I am missing..
