Hardwired keyless keypad not working?

I just bought an '08 F350 Super Duty CC. When I bought it, the previous owner gave a me card with the code on it. So I tried to reprogram the keyless keypad to a new code that I can remember, no luck at all. Followed all the steps on how to reprogram it like a hundred times and still won't reprogram. So I've noticed that none of the lights light up except 7*8, none of the other buttons won't light up. Could the keyless keypad be going south? Maybe the contacts in the keyless keypad are gummed up or a relay? Please help me to get this feature to work cause I sure would use it a lot. Also how do I remove the interior door trim to get to the keyless keypad? The door panel has electric locks, electric window, power mirrors, telescoping rear view mirrors, memory seating buttons and speaker pillar. Thanks for any advice or solutions in advanced, thank you!
