If it's the warrenty your worried about, Ford would have to prove it was the bio that caused the fuel system problem, and ... they will. But they could show that the #2 your buying was bad too. If your buying bio from a reputable dealer your going to have the same odds of quality fuel as it would be for #2. If your brewing your own or buying homebrew, well then it's a crap shoot. In Mn., all the #2 fuel sold is now a 5% bio-blend I believe, and I'm sure other states are doing similiar programs. Bio is here to stay, the U.S has to take steps to get away from foreign oil. And bio is a no brainer, the crops grown produce more fuel than it takes to grow them. How are you gonna beat that. Plus it smells good

And consider this, as far as red (offroad) fuel goes. If you fill your tank with it just once, it takes quite a while and a lot of fuel to 'get the red out'.

We were making Bio-diesel and run it in our tractors. Since there all IDI I can churn out fuel for roughly $.90 a gallon. If your using it in DI engines(aka anything made during the 1990's and 2000's) then the ASTM quality of spec fuel is more important. Its pretty hard to screw up a batch of Bio(interms of having left over lye and excess stuff that will kill injectors). The real problems come from having not having highly converted fuel. There a large amount of tests one can do to see if everything is in order, but its largly based on how each person produces there fuel and how good they are at perfoming simple chemical tasks.

All diesel in MN is B2 2% bio actually I like that it makes up for some of the lost lubricity in the new ULSD

There are a couple good articles in this months Diesel power magazine on bio diesel. It seems that the makers of the fuel systems, especiall injectors and pumps, are concerned about the biodiesel causing problems. I do not know who (ford or the fuel system manufacuters) actually pay for the warrenty work on our injection systems
