I guess this question would be for CHENRY.I pretty much understand how your vegi system works except one thing. The fuel switches automatically to VO when the system is up to yhe proper temp.,but how does it know when you are going to stop so it can purge the sustem and return back to diesel ? Also can you tell me how long it takes to purge the vo from the system if you are sitting at idle. Thank you

Hope you don't mind if I answer for Clay, but I think I got the gist of this whole thing down . The turn on is easy, just a temp switch. And the shut down is almost as easy. The system knows you are done driving when you turn the key off. That begins a quick purge sequence with some timers that keep the truck running, shuts off the WVO system, activates a purge solenoid to flush the fuel rails, and then allows diesel through the injectors before shutting off after a minute. But all you do is turn off the key and walk away. To the casual observer it is just like a turbo timer.

Thanks for the response fordnut.I still have issues cause I don't understand all I know about this.If your heating the vo before it goes through the filter then when it swiches over to diesel to purge the system then the engine must run long enough to use the VO that is in the filter and the rest of the fuel supply system and thats what I can't figure out. How long does that take.I may be wrong but this is what I came up with. 15 miles per gallon @30 mph 30 miles =2 gallons 1/2 hour= 1gallon 1/4 hour-or 15 minutes=1/2 gallon So assuming that there is more than 1 quart of VO left in the system then aprox.how long does it take to purge it out at idle? I hope you guys don't think this is a joke or that I am being a smart azz. I'm just trying to learn the details about using VO.and I figure you guys are the ones who can help me,and for that I want to thank you all.Widom is power and at my age I am getting weak fred |

Different conversion setups operate differently and therefore have different purge times. My vegstoke will purge the lines in 6 seconds. A solenoid valve switches on when i turn the key off and purges for that 6 second time and then the engine continues to run for approximately 60 seconds more thus burning out any remaining vegi that had already reached the injectors before the purge cycle. Purging doesn't involve the filter. Just the lines in front of the pump to the fuel rails. This all is purged and pumped back through the return line to the vegi tank. I hope that cleared it up some but if not, Jason Crawford (Fordnut74) will chime in here and clarify. |

Thanks Chenry that really cleared it up for me.What baffeled me was not knowing about the seperate filter.Iwould really like to install your system on my truck but at that price I can't justify it.I only use my truck to haul my camper and drive very few miles.I've only got 108,000 on my 95 and most of those were put on by the previous owner.Maybe prices will go down later if I live long enough. LOL thanks again fred |

What about your commute to work? How far do you drive and what do you drive?
If you had free fuel to burn in your truck would you not be driving it more? |
