I love it, a renewable resource that grows like crazy, and used as a petroleum replacment. Take that big oil!!!

Saw that on tv. The plant they are talking about has these little tiny seeds that they press to get the oil out of. Seems like it would take a year to collect and squeeze out enough oil for one flight. Cool stuff tho.

a friend and i started researching this about a year ago. its a great idea. the largest complications are as follows:

1. an efficient and practicle way of removing the lipids from the cells.
2. an efficient way of removing the algae from the water when using particular strains that dont settle under their own weight.
3. working around any climate challenges given your region. if you have winter thats a problem, if you have hot summers it can slow the growth of some algea strains.

were still looking into it, if we can get a process down we will go for it. there is much much more but those are the main hurdles we have hit. there is so much more porential with algea than just diesel fuel too...
