Price

I've only seen regular #2 for sale everywhere around here (south indianapolis) I know it's around here somewhere, but what is the price for biodiesel? I really don't want to pay the same price just for a bio fuel until (if ) gas prices come back down.

Around my home (cental Pa.) It cost's the same as regular #2 diesel. The stuff I can get is 3% soy oil. Ford does not recomend anything over 5%. It does run cleaner b ut seems to ge slightly less mileage. (about .5mpg)

Cleanliness versus mileage....

I'll take mileage over cleanliness especially with fuel prices being more than twice what they should be. I've managed to keep filling up for about 2.50 or less here, and seen diesel as high as 2.69 around town. I haven't seen it under 2.43 for at least a month now. With a 38 gallon tank and about 100 to fill up, I want the best price, not the cleanest burning!

Trucks had a good episode this past weekend on making your own Bio-Diesel. Here is the site where he got his equipment;

I honestly don't know much about it except that here in Houston it's 50 cents per gallon more expensive than what I'm currently paying for regular diesel.

Let me in on this bio-diesel stuff... Does the equipment process this from raw oil? So, you just need to buy oil, veggie oil, methanol, and you can just make it in your own shop? Is it legal? It sounds awesome to me!

Make yer own!

I don't think that making our own would be very efficient unless you had many trucks or other diesel vehicles to fuel. If anyone out there is making there own and actually saving some money, let me know! I'm sure I might end up doing it too since the latest news on prices is up up up after the hurricane...

If the EPA would let us drill our own oil on our own soil, we could probably afford to drive...more.

Clay achin'

I can drill, but once I hit that clay, i'm achin! I really don't think there is much under this central indiana soil but....more soil, and maybe some liquid hot magma. :-( Maybe Mr. Bush should knock over Dr. Evil and steal the oil empire overseas....I'm tired of three dollar diesel! But, i'm still getting 18 or so mpg in an 8000+ lb truck. My old 95 5.7 chevy was about 5700lbs and got 12.....so I guess I should be happy...but still...
