Vegistroke installed
Just wanted to post up that I did the install on my 7.3l this past thurs and friday. It probably took about 15 hours with many breaks in between.
RDS didnt have the machined block fittings with the fuel pickup and return adaptor for the tank. On thurs during my install, I noticed there was no fuel pickup so Vegistroke overnighted me one. Then friday when I was doing all the lines for the tank, I had no way of putting the small nipple for the fuel return line as it would fall right through the hole in the tank so Vegistroke is overnighting me one today and tomorrow I should be good to go. I would like to say that the guys at Vegistroke, Jeremiah, John and Jason were more than helpful and Im sure I annoyed them by calling them so often to ask questions on such and such. They went above and beyond the customer service aspect and it almost felt like they were all next to me during install. The hope they guys at vegistroke and the operator werent too annoyed at how often I called, but the install went fairly smoothly. I buttoned just about everything up except that return fuel line and the grounds on the V3 but the truck started up fine. I did the testing from the switches and since I didnt have the return line fitted on the tank, I had diesel spill onto my bed when I shut the truck off in auto mode. Gotta love the smell of diesel though. I ordered my kit in the end of april or early may and I guess I got one of the last few tanks with the fuel and coolant adapters on the drivers side, so I needed to route the lines behind the tank down into the hole in the passenger side. All new kits will have everything on the passenger side. Once again, this kit is top notch in quality and customer service. I would defiinately recommend it to anyone wanting to have a great kit. If anyone from vegistroke is reading this, or clay if you speak to them on a regular basis, thank you a million times for your help. |

It would be awesome if you could post or pm some pics of the interior of the tank and the coolant and fuel connections of your WVO tank. Congrats on the conversion. You won't stop smiling for a good month or so.

Hey guys,
As soon as I can find my camera battery recharger, Ill get some pics up. I still havent mounted the buttons on my dash yet, nor have I done the fuel gauge yet. The adaptor should be arriving today so I hope to get everything buttoned up by this weekend. If anyone is considering buying this kit, dont think too long. Just buy it. Yes it does cost a little bit more than any other kit out there, but they include everything you need, have the best customer service ever and everything works like it should. As soon as I get things running I plan on giving DFA a call and thanking them. Every time I called them for questions I apologized for being a nuisance and taking up their time and thanking them after because they explained everything so well. My friend Dave (AFblue...) told me that I should install the kit myself rather than pay a shop to install it because the time spent installing the kit would help me better understand my truck and how it works. Im new to the diesel world, and definately not as skilled as some when it comes to working on the motor, but it definately helped ALOT to install it myself. Yes it took about 15 hours to install with many many breaks inbetween, but I think I can do it in under 10 now because its fairly simple. Getting the O-rings off was no fun because I put a hole in my thumb with a sharp pick, but all in all it wasnt that bad. Ill update soon guys. Thanks. |
