Daily price for Yellow Grease/WVO?
I am trying to find a site that I can get a daily listing of what the selling price for Yellow Grease/WVO. Also what is the criteria for someone selling as yellow grease? is there a contamination standard such as water or particulate being filtered?
Also am I right that WVO weighs 8lbs/gal? |

http://www.ams.usda.gov/mnreports/sj_gr210.txt (for friday.. I presume its updated daily?)
cwt = hundredweight or 100 lbs density is about 7.5 lbs/gal about, a litte less from what I've read so far.. Edit- is the stuff even traded on the open market? If not, you wont find daily pricing for it. You might want to look at a company that buys/sells it agritradingcorp.com is one that is involved. Last edited by kinghawg98; 09-01-2008 at 06:55 PM. |

Its labeled as a commodity, and they do sell it at some daily capacity to make biodiesel out of it.
I am just about flat out of WVO and going to have to suck it up and start buying it, or will have to go back to diesel. Trying to work out a number that I can use as a baseline to buy WVO from some people down here since they are asking a boat load for it. Thank you for that website, I guess I brushed over it when I first saw it, but .32/lbs*7.5 comes out to 2.40/gal, which is expensive, but depending on the quality of the oil, it would be better than diesel till I get home to NY in another year. I also notice that page is listed for KS, is there a national link, or at least one for down here in TX? Last edited by AFBLUE; 09-01-2008 at 07:13 PM. |
