Bio in a 6.0L
I have a Early 1999 7.3 and a 2003 6.0L. I just got the 6.0L and plan on selling the 7.3...(I know, I know...I just needed a crew cab and the 2003 was a deal I could NOT pass up...if anyone is looking for a good deal on a SWEET 7.3, see the "for sale" page...)
Anyway, my 7.3 seemed to love commercial B100 and I am in the process of making homebrew of my own. (pics will be posted when I can get some time to actually do it.) Anyone run homebrew bio in a 6.0L? How is it doing? You running B100 or a blend? What kind of pitfalls should I watch out for. I dont want to lose an injector or 8 because I missed a step or forgot to divide by 12. ![]() The dang 6.0Ls have a rep for being so freakin' tempermental I am a bit leery about homebrew bio in it, but if others have done it, I can, too. But any input from you "experts" will be most helpful. Thanks! |

C. Montgomery Burns: Exxxcellent!
Glad to hear that! I am collecting oil. The processor is ready. I am going to do a soda-bottle test batch tonight just for grins. I should have time this weekend to attempt my first real test batch. |

I am still collecting parts for my processing plant but have been running on B99.9 commercial bio for a while now. The truck runs great on it so I am looking forward to getting my own setup running.

Bio in 6.0
I have a 2003 6.0 and looking to run bio on it, just wondering about how many times you have to change the fuel filters on it?
Is there a break in period, I hear it will really clean out the tank at first, how much did you start of with and when did you finaly change the filters? |

I bought my 05 in March of 08 with 50k miles and within 2 weeks started running B5. I did that for a few tanks then went to B20 for a few then about a B35 for a few and then straight to B99.9 in June and have put about 5k on the B99.9 so far. I have put about 9k on the truck since I got it in March and I haven't changed the fuel filters yet. I will change them in another 1k when they have 10k miles on them. I bought 3 sets of spares anticipating I may need to change them a couple of times quickly but it hasn't worked out that way. As weather cools off I am sure I will have to make some accommodations and plan on adding at least a heated filter setup and a fuel heater up at the engine. I like it. The truck is way quieter and smells great.

Where do you get your B99.9? All I can find is the B20
