New 08's????
Does anyone know of anyone driving a new 08...I really don't care what BRAND it is...Ford would be better, anyway...I wan't to know about running BIO in a new diesel.
I make my own for my 05 f250 and it's great...I needed some parts for my processor so called my rep and was talking to him, he said there are some guys out there running 50% 75% and 100% BIO in there new trucks. I want to hear some reports back please..... |

I have been running 30% bio in my 08 for about 5000 miles, no problems at all.

I'm about to start running Bio in my 08 350. I've checked around and the consensus is you are OK at < 50% BIO. To go higher, you need to delete the DPF and Catalic converter or they will clog.

I would not run more than say 5% with the DPF and cat on....mine have been deleted since almost day one.

FoMoCo will void your warranty if they catch wind you are running over 5% Bio. Just something to keep in mind.

We have an 08 R&D rig just for building a WVO system for. After a 10,000 mile break in and getting a bunch of Baseline engine data with our Ford IDS, we have started test runs using a 50/50 mix of Diesel and New SVO. Only a few hundred miles, but so far Absolutely no change in any of the functions or deviations from baseline sensor data. The IDS is freakin sweet for doing this since we can monitor EVERYTHING on the truck, and even manually control many functions of the engine such as Injection Pressure, RPM, EGR, Turbo vane position, DPF, and so on. We will be acquiring a particulate monitoring system as well to be able to monitor soot production and fine tune WVO use and its relation to exhaust smoke under a variety of conditions and how to minimize smoke, or maximize efficiency if you want to look at it that way. May also do some testing on Bio as well.
SO after all of that, our initial impression with a 50/50 mix is positive. I would imagine a 50/50 blend of Bio would work well. Just keep track of how often you are getting regens. If the regen frequency goes up, you have your answer |
