Cavitation on cold start

Ever since the vegistroke install in my 02 7.3 the engine cavitates when I first start it up. A very light tap to the gas pedal smooths it out to its regular idle. Only does it on a cold start when I'm using diesel. Anyone care to guess whats happening and what should I be checking?

When you say "Cavitation" do you mean it's not idling smooth for a few seconds??? If so your engine oil is too full or your not "purging" all of the WVO out of the injectors prior to shutting the motor down.

Yes, the engine does rough surging until I tap the pedal. As soon as I tap the pedal the idle is smooth as a babies azz. Only the first start up in the morning.

Engine oil is full but not overfilled. Truck runs for 50 seconds on shut down for purging. According to Vegistroke I should expect a less than 1 minute purge. I would hope that is not the issue. I suppose if nothing else comes up to "check" I'll see about dialing up the purge time a little bit and see if that eliminates the problem.

I can always tell when I didn't get all of the WVO out of the injectors, my truck will do exactly what you are saying......

How long do the rest of you Vegistrokers purge for?
