Greasecar tank filler cap leaking

Just installed a used GC 40 gallon tank. Today was the first day I filled it up all the way. Noticed after coming home from work some oil on the top of the tank & running down the side of it. 99% sure it is coming from the cap. Of course it is only leaking when I drive so it is hard to tell for sure but I believe it is leaking around the rubber gasket that seals the cap to the flange. It doesn't seem to seal as tightly as I think should. The gasket on the cap looks fine though. The tank has been sitting empty for over a year.

Never had a GC tank before so is this a common problem?? Is the cap serviceable or do I just need to get a new cap?? Tried logging on to the GC forum to post this there & for some reason it won't let me. I will call them if I have to.

Those fill caps suck.
I removed it and had an aluminum neck welded in.
Likely, the seal between the flange and the tank is leaking. Remove the screws and reseal, then reinstall.

While the fill cap is in hand, be sure to clean it. There is a vent in the cap. Its under the allen head screw. clean it up nice and reinstall.

A 1/4 cup of sodium hydroxide in a gallon of water will make it like new.
Be sure to use gloves, NaOh is potent, and dangerous.
