nice. One of the guys on my hockey teams owns 3 restraunts so i might be throwing the question at him soon. Then i have to come up with a filtration unit. Hey Clay did you any modifications you had to do with the water heater. I work at a plumbing warehouse and could get a new water heater cheap if i wanted. i might just get an old one though.

Better ask him before i do!
All i modified is i wired around the upper heating element. You don't need that much heat to heat the oil...plus if you ever wanted to process a smaller batch, that upper element would not be submersed and would burn up.

I had a Mcdonalds hook up for 7 stores, all I could use. I go to collect and its hydrogenated vegetable oil. Now everywhere I go, people say I can have their oil but nobody is running 100% veggie. I don't need much either. Sucks.

Use it untill you can find a different sorce. IT will work fine its just hard to filter in the winter...not impossible to do but more difficult.
I saw where one guy used an old refridg and hooked up a space heater in it, stacked 5-6 cubies of oil in it prior to filtering it and warmed it up so it would pour into the filter barrel.
There are ways if you gove it some though.

I'd think just disconnect the wires feeding the upper element and you'd be good. You want the tank to remain sealed anyways.
