I believe it is 60 gallons. Found it on e-bay from a guy up around the Dallas area that custom makes them. Not very cheaply I might add.

I'm very interested in the design. I'm going to show it to a local guy that does tanks and knock it around some.

Any more pics of tanks? I'm just about to convert my toolbox to a tank. I have just bought the filler & cap, fuel sender unit & gauge. I just need to get the tube for a heat pipe, although I'm not sure if I will need that just yet as my exhaust system will run under the tank. I will post pictures tomorrow. Have any of you guys got a swirl pot or a sump in your tanks?

Pictures of my toolbox that I'm about to convert into a tank with just enough room for straps etc.
I have stacks so I'm hoping to take advantage of the heat from them to heat the tank.

There is a wasted space now the toolbox has been moved back to allow room for the stacks. I'm going to fil this space with the tank. I'm going to extend the toolbox forward above the exhaust.

I was thinking about just how much heat will be generated from the exhaust tonight after I removed the toolbox. I was going to make the tank as close above the exhaust as possible. I think now that I will slope that part up at an angle so that wvo can't sit on a shelf & cook like in a frying pan. I think I will add a coolant pipe through the tank aswell. I'm going to keep a gap in between the exhaust & the sloping section to make sure that part doesn't get too hot.

I have to cut the bottom corners off as they stop the toolbox being able to be in the right place so the lid will open without fouling the stacks.

I can't get diamond plate over here, but that shouldn't matter to much as you won't see the extra bits too much. Any ideas will be helpfull guys

you won't get any heat from your stacks in that tank. Get a heated pickup like a hotfox.

No heat?? Dude those pipes get very hot! When it rains I can hardly see out of the rear window for the amount of steam. Why don'tyou think I will get any heat in the tank when I build it over those pipes?
I saw a hotfox on a website somewhere. I seem to remember it was very expensive. How does it work? Where can I find details on one of those?

i have staxs too and yes they get hot but the heat is lost before it can radiate to the tank.

Really? ok I'll take your word for it. I'm going to put a heat exchanger in the tank anyway to make sure it warms up. I've had to cut the bottom corners from the front or rear which ever way you look at it I guess, because the lid allways hit the stacks & you could never open the lid fully. I've also lowered the box by 2 inches because I have caught it twice on my fith wheel trailer. Mainly my fault as I turned tight on uneven ground. I didn't want that situation again though. Here are the pics of what I managed to get done today. I didn't get much time today.
Before

After

After I cut the corners off to clear the arches

Just enough room between the stacks & the box now

More tomorrow
O I had a look at the hotfox, but I'm not going to go with that. It's just my opinion, but I think it's far to expensive for what it is.

Can anybody tell me what size tube they have used for the heat exchanger pipe in the tank. Also what size fuel pipe? Has anybody fitted a swirl pot or sump? I'm going to fit a temp gauge aswell as a fuel gauge. I'd really like to see some other tank builds.

Didn't get much done on the tank today. Ran out of time.
I had to make another alteration tonight because now I've moved the box back I would not be able to get my 5th wheel hitch in or out as it would hit the bottom of the box.

I'm Going to cut the hole in the rear of the box tomorrow & the bottom. Then my buddy is going to weld it up for me on Friday or Monday. I was thinking of buying a tig & welding it myself, but I have not tig welded since collage. I am an excellent mig welder, but this job needs to be perfect fist time round not a lesson in tig welding.
