What people have been doing for years on older mechanical pumps has no bearing on the newer pumps that are in our trucks today. Our new trucks function under much higher pressures ,seals a much more crutal. In the old days if they ran out of diesel they would run fuel oil or kerosen. Not today the engine will run but the fuel system will crash and burn.
I am only giving you the info that BD has ,based on actual repair pump units that go through our shop on a daily basis.you can choose to heed the advise given or try for yourself..
25yrs. of fuel shop knowledge, rebuilding fuel systems ,and pumps.I'm going with what the experts tell me.

i'm not saying i don't believe him that there's the possibility of a problem. shoot, there's a possibility of a problem any time any of us fill up some where. but i can't ignore the fact that there are people out there doing it in modern diesel's like a duramax or powerstroke or cummins. i've actualy done a SMALL amount of research and havent come across any one who had a fuel system failure. also there's plenty off guy's that run on waste vegetable oil with little or no modification's to the fuel system other than to purge the wvo out off the fuel system for shut down. it wont start on stright wvo.

Bill....WVO is a filtered, basically pure oil that when heated is very similar to diesel.......no chemicals in it unless you add them.....

Waste motor oil though is ridden with particles, additives and detergents. IMO only a fool would run waste motor oil though a direct injected diesel......in fact i will garantee that weather they tell people or not, all these guys you have checked out that are doing it are going to have premature failure of some fuel system componanats......and ill garantee the injector o rings re some of the first things to go.....harlod is right on the head bill......Marc

Thanks for all the opinons guy's.

By the time you end up getting more smoke by pouring the used oil in with your fuel, you'll spend more money in repairs to the fuel system and it's components than if you had just bought a set of 100 horse injectors......you'd get the smoke you want without screwin' them up

Conservative or not, excess black smoke either means your tune is not ridht or you are not burning the fuel lossing HP. Excessive black smoke gives diesel trucks a bad name and we as diesel owners should be trying to cleanup this excess smokn .
Let's try to clean up our act ourselves before the pesky Goverment makes us do it.
