Biodiesel in the IDI?

I get the IDI tomorrow! However, since diesel prices are going up again, I'm hoping to run half diesel and half biodiesel that my buddy makes and uses in his '95 Powerstroke. Is it okay to run that in my 6.9?

yup. you will eventually have to replace all the natural rubber in the fuel system. its up to you when. the lines will sweat and eventually corrode away. if your mixing with D2 then i imagine it will happen more slowly. just keep an eye on them.

I knew the fuel lines would be a problem. I will keep an eye on them. I just wanted to know how the engine would take it.

After running a few tanks of bio/diesel mix, you'll most likely have to change your fuel filter , depending on how much crud it loosens up.

Thanks guys. It's gonna be a few days before I'm on the road with it, so we'll see how it goes then.

I had an '86 and ran it on biodiesel for many years until the crankshaft snapped right behind the harmonic balancer. It was NOT biodiesel related. Just make sure that the bio you make or use from a supplier is of good quality.

Thanks again gents. I was told by my supplier that he might not have any made due to lack of his own suppliers (nobody wants to give up oil for free ), so I guess I'm running regular for a while now.
