Big haul coming up

I have a big haul coming up here soon. I need to bring home about 1000 gal of wvo. The problem is I need to make a pretty long drive to get it (~230 miles each way) I can rent a big gooseneck (14k gvwr) that can handle the weight but my 4 totes would be on the flat bed for the world to see. Wonder if there is anything that could or would cause them to pull me over and cause trouble for hauling these. Normally I put the smaller amounts into my cargo trailer and no one knows what I am hauling. The problem is my trailer can not handle the weight of 1000 gal (about 8k lbs)

Or do I break it into 3 weekends and haul it in my little cargo trailer?

Haul it all at once, and spend $100 for one of those big heavy duty cargo tarps.

Or spend less, and buy a tarp for each tote. No big deal.

I'd do it in a heart beat.

So whats the rest of the story??????
U getting this for free, or what?
Spill the beans man, that's an excellent score.

It WAS a good source. I have been buying my oil from the same place for almost 2 years now. He is out of the business so I am buying all he has left. just trying to figure out how to get it all home. Then part 2 will be looking for a new source.

"BUYING IT" Man that would kinda suck. All my oil is free..... so far

Are the renderers out your way paying top dollar for the stuff? Or is there a Bio plant that is taking over all the sources?

Good luck getting into a new source, how long will this big haul last you?

I have been buying it because it was easy and very convenient. I was getting free oil from 2 places but dropped them because it was becoming a pain. Too much work for not as much oil. This oil I was getting was really clean. It was nice to pick up bulk when I needed it and not have to worry about what place has what oil and how snotty it was. At this point I have a tiny bit more money than time. so buying bulk oil was a good thing. I might see if I can hit up some of the local renderguys and see if they will sell me some.

1000 gal should last me a year, maybe 18 months depending on how much camping we do this summer.

As long as your trailer is rated to haul that much weight & you have the totes secured down properly what could they get your for??

I'm with Aaron though. Haul it all at once. Plan it so the drive home is late at night if you feel you need to. Less people around & no scales are open then.
