What kind of trouble are you having? Is there a bioD company hogging up the restaurants? What methods have you tried?

try local colleges too. LA i think is a difficult market. you may have to offer to pay by gallon or pound.
you might check the outskirts of LA. try and find one to there good sources within 100 miles or so that you can collect once a month from.

they all say they already have a contract with some one.

thats happening a lot of places. your best bet is a new contract offering more $$ or schmoosing with concert tickets, gift cards etc. to get a % of their oil.
or again, look to the distant sources... |

I offered a restaurant patronage and 20 cents a gallon and they switched without batting an eye. Not sure if they were under contract....(As small as it was, it was painful to fork over that .20/gallon every month.) Paying is now a last resort.
For contracted restaurants, ask when their contract expires and hit em up then with the added benefits of supporting a local, patronizing their restaurant, powerwashing around their dumpster, etc. Eat there! Get to know management. My favorite indian restaurant now sets me aside a cubie instead of throwing it all in the rendering bin. Jason J. i have heard if you get in good with a kitchen manager, you might be able to get them to set aside 1/3 of what would normally go to the renderer.

My 1st and BEST oil source I had to do favors for.
I built the owner of the restaurant an 8.5' long picnic table, custom job with nice detailed table top and seat ends. Sits about 10 I'm in good now. I get my BEST oil from them, no water, no cleaning agents, and it's in cubies by the back door, sometimes it's so clear I can see through it. Favors WORK! |

seriously if you are in LA and you cant find oil then you are not trying. I live in a town of 50k people with about 20 restaurants. I have 6 of those restaurants. I have 1 source in san diego and one in Las Vegas. Both produce 50 gallons a month and they actually found me. Some of the oil I have gotten has had a lot of water in it and it sucked but it made me step my game up as far as oil processing goes and I learned a lot. I have found so much oil that about 4 months ago I gave up a source to someone on this board (search my posts) because he had too much oil for me (100+ gallons a month). You need to get out and start visiting a different restaurant once a week. I always choose around 2pm because rush is over and manager is usually not busy. The 10$ you spent on lunch will yield 15$ in wvo the first time you pick up. Even if you have to pay them then pay them. Give them 25 cents per gallon so it benefits you and them.
