v3 green light off in auto mode?

The light does not come on in auto mode, the veg pump still runs, and upon shut down the system stays running to purge but, no light. The pre filter screen is clean and the donaldson has only 1000k or so. Whats the deal and why did it happen out of nowhere? I have been leaving the v3 off because I am not sure what to do. Its amazing how quickly I get angry watching the diesel needle drop down these days. Can I use a tire pressure air gauge to test the fuel pressure? If that is the problem, why? Does the very cold temps here, and tons of snow have anything to do with it? I was leaving the v3 is auto mode and when the light turned on I would shut it off and wait another 3-5 miles before turning it back on. When the truck has to idle for more than a minute I would shut the V3 off and run on diesel until I got moving again. All help, as always, is much appreciated.

Problem solved. I added 5 feet of coolant hose ( wrapped three times around the filter ). The oil in the filter wasn't getting hot enough to move.
