i doubt it would "rust" everything out - but it may clog up a fuel filter or damage some seals (depending on what kind they are)

You hear a lot of mixed reviews on bio. I have a friend that works at a city garage, and they use B20. He belives it has caused problems in some engines, but works fine in others. I don't see why it would rust anything out.

From what I have read, biodiesel can mess with older (rubber) fuel lines and seals, and can clean sludge out of the fuel delivery system. It's generally recommended to change your fuel filter after using it for a couple tanks, and keep a spare with you in case of performance issues or a rough-running engine.

Unless the bio is poorly refined, I've not heard of it rusting anything out. It is however known to gel at up to 40F, so in colder climates it might be a good idea to either mix it with dino diesel or use an additive.

I know at least with SVO you need to change your filters as well. My father has converted two Mercedes and he had some trouble with the first one because he didn't expect that to happen. Basically the SVO and the biodiesel cleans out alot of the grime from your system and that gets caught in the filters.

All true. Biodiesel acts as a detergent breaking up grime and buildup from years of dino-diesel. Also non-Viton seals and hoses will break down with bio. Just like upgrading an old AC system to R134 you have to upgrade the system to handle it. If you had a brand new fuel system, ie new tank, lines, filters, you would have no problems with clogged filters because there wouldn't be any muck in there to be broken down by bio. But no, bio will not cause rusting problems.

Improperly brewed bio-D can contain some amounts of sodium hydroxid. Buy it from a reputable source and carry and extra feul filter as stated above.
By the way sodium hydroxide will destroy your injectors in a matter of miles, so unless you are sure about the fuel, stay away from it.

I've run lots of bio through my truck, with no ill effects. Most of it was B-5, especially in the winter, but during the summer there were times when it was as high as B-20

B5 is only 5% bio and B20 is 20%. Thats not Bio-D, thats a blend of 95% diesel and bio or 80% diesel and Bio.
When i speak of running bio, i am talking about B100. A 5% blend of a bad brew isn't nearly as bad as a 100% blend. Watch your sorce is all i am saying on this.

Or you could run 100% WVO and not worry abot it like i do.
