Cetane Booster and Performance Improver

Motorcraft/Ford sells the stuff. Is this truely necessary or is this a gimick. I drive an 07 6.0. Asked my dealer about it and they said no, but also said they had never heard of this Ford additive. I did a search on here for Cetane but no real answers either way. Anybody got the skinny on if this chit is needed. Is there any literature on it from Ford?
Thanks

Well F-350man that's where I am on the fence. The stuff says for 2007 and earlier but definetly not for the 2008's. I am trying to find out a definetive answer and so far from all I have talked to and all I have read it is kinda one of those situations where everyone says it can't hurt so do it. But if my 07 does not require it then why spend the money. I am still researching. Thanks

If your worried about lubrication 3% bio-Diesel to your take will take care of all of your problems, not to mention that 1 gallon of b100 is roughly 3.50-4.00bucks and that will last you just as long as one of those lubrication bottles.
*comes directly to me from a FSE from Ford, and since your under 5% no warranty issues*

I have a bottle in front of me and it says "This diesel fuel additive does not comply with federal ultra-low sulfer content requirements for use in model year 2007 and newer diesel motor vehicles or model year 2011 and newer diesel non-off road equipment engines. This is my first bottle of this and I have been using the diesel cleen up until now. I think I read on here that it is the same as Stanadyne and it seems to be highly recommended. I do not think that you should use this in your truck from what it sounds like on the bottle.

I have used Lucas products in all my diesels (18 wheelers) and in my 97 7.3. It gets me about 1 or 2 mor mpg's and give the lubrication you need. It will definatly add a few ground HP's.
I'm new here so I just thought I'd put my pennies worth in.

Cetane number is like the octane rating of Gas. Diesel needs to be around 45-48 for max performance. The ULSD in colorado averages about 35 cetane. All the dealers here recommend it for improved fuel mileage for 06 and prior. I noticed that the new bottles have a ULSD label on them as well.
