Couple WVO questions...
Truck is a 95 powerstroke.
I already have a large aux. tank with switcher for the VO. Basicly Id like to know if this is all I need to do. Please add if I missed anything. I will utilize 2 of these heaters, eBay Motors: Veggie Therm Fuel Line Heater WVO SVO BIO DIESEL+Filter (item 220103210500 end time Apr-26-07 10:40:42 PDT) Inline With the 4 micron filters. I am going to add a fuel temp gauge at after the fuel heaters, so that when The fuel temp reaches 150 degrees I will know to switch the tanks. Here are my questions. What temp does the oil have to be at before I switch? Is it ok to heat the regular diesel to that temperature? Is it ok to TOW my 7k lb trailer on vegi oil.? |

Just to start off-I don't use veggie oil, but I have done a lot of research on it, that being said, here are some basic answers. First off, you're going to need a way to purge your fuel lines of SVO before you stop the vehicle, otherwise it will be difficult to start after the oil has cooled in the lines, and you are risking injector/ring damage on startup with cold oil. I would highly recommend checking out the infopop biodiesel forum "SVO as Fuel" located here: Biodiesel & SVO Forums - Powered by eve community This is a very active forum full of knowledge. These guys know as much about SVO as we know about Powerstrokes here. They can guide you every step of the way through either purchasing a system or piecing one together on your own. About 120 degrees Well, it won't blow up (diesel's flash point is somewhere around 400 degrees F) but there is some debate on whether or not you loose too much lubricity that way-I would do a search on infopop. Of course! The whole point of this is to use the vegetable oil in place of diesel fuel. You can do everything you normally would with your truck, even modify it. There are guys out there who even drag race and pull on vegetable oil. Finally, check out my "Know Your Fuels" sticky as it gives a general overview of SVO and other things. Then go to infopop. |

Cool thanks for the info.
As for the purging the lines, I still have the factory tank that I will have fueled with diesel. Cant I just switch back to diesel for a couple minutes before I shut the car off? |
