I have heard a lot of talk this week about this ULSD and I too am worried about the lubrication properties. I wonder if the diesel will be cheaper which will probably not happen are if we have to use an additive at each fill up?

the refining costs will go up, which means im sure the cost will go up. also, the additive is going to be added when the fuel is put in the tank, which means that will probably also raise the cost, although it will save you from having to keep additive on hand for each fill up.......Marc

I was told that the additive they are putting in the ulsd is soy oil to bring up the lubricity, I dont know if that is true does anybody else hear of that.

I talked to a fuel rep from cenex an he said the price for the ulsd is expected to cost more at the pump also as far as lubricity, in Minnesota we have what we call a state law that says any diesel fuel sold regardless of type will and has to have 2% biodiesel in it. That 2% is suppose to make up for loss of the sulfer from lsd to ulsd and with the ulsd we would expect to change out the fuel filters more often as well as have some injector problems. Thanks to our EPA that we will be test subjects for their bull crap political agenda. Go under www.epa.gov to read the crap stats they have and www.clean-diesel.org to read more. Only time will tell and in the end it's all about MONEY!

Ulsd was selling for 2.38 per gal here in Billings Mt.
I was wondering if you add a qt of oil to a tank of ulsd would help the lube problems. Bio Diesel was selling for 3.44 per gal

Well the cost per gallon is the same around here. And the pamphlet I have gotten from the local Cheveron Station does not say anything about having to use any additives. They state that everything will run as normal. Al they state is don’t use lsd in 2007 model vehicles.

LSD, what you are buying if it says dont use in 07 or later....is the exact same fuel youve been buying since you owned the truck.....

Ulsd in theory will require no additives, but i would wait till sime guys run it untill testing it without, ULSD is not availabe in most places yet....
