SVO and Coking...
A year and a half ago before a wreck sidelined me, I had started gathering materials to build a processor and had decided that bio-d was what I wanted as opposed to an svo system because I didn't want to deal with coking and getting expensive injectors replaced. The whole "alternate fuel" idea was still pretty new (the current era, anyway)and a lot of people were still experimenting around and guessing about too many things for me to trust anything but processed fuel.
Now that I'm finally getting back to moving around, it seems like a lot more people are going with the svo systems without too much concern for the big issues of the past. I'm wondering if the coking concerns have basically been addressed and if it's been decided that (if done properly) our fuel systems will do fine without having to go through the added time of processing the oil. Watsa deal? |

well i break stuff alot
I think each car is different . Powerstrokes are in my opinion are A great choice for svo. My the newer 96 mercedes doesent like it so much .Melted injection pump internals. I live in cal so temps aren't extreme. IF ppl like to ingnore the fact Waste vegetable oil is corrosive that's ok with me . but the copper parts in side your ride wont last long . You can mess it up all sorts of ways either way you go svo or bio-d . and you can have great suscces with either one as well. So do you want to be a veggie-chemist or grease monkey wrencher . o yea just get a veggiestroke. venting here My patience runs thin when things like my front crank seal leaks So ford is scared to work on it ..(" its runing on what .. or the fuel system has been modified."). grow balls FORD ppl I have never had injector problems. but i do remember reading diesels are meant to be driven long and pull heavy loads .in order to burn things clean . and that long idling and casual around town driving lets coking occur. So Italian tune up for me . I wear out brakes alot .

Hey, thanks for the reply Veggie, I was about to give up and figure that there were just a bunch of lookie-loos like me in this forum. I used to be big into the long driving and heavy loads but I'm in the process of looking for a 7.3 SD to replace my OBS and am in the process of trying to figure out of I should stay with my intention of processing BD or just go with the SVO. Maybe I should just plan on giving it some of those brake wearing sessions like you do.
