Aux Tanks VS Transfer Tanks

Hi all,
What do people know about auxillary fuel tanks and Transfer tanks. What makes them different from one and other? I am planning on using the Vegistroke system and I am looking for a tank.

I have found 2 tanks one from Northern tool that is a 91 gallon auxulliary fuel tank. The second tank I have found isa 100 Gal transfer tank at Tractor Supply. The transfer tank explicitly notes on it that it is for tranfer use only and not to be hooked to the motor vehicel.

Could I use a transfer tank if I were to drill and run the linees to it? Is there a liabilty issue? Could you get ticketed by the police? I pan to use the tank to hold WVO.

Buying the tank locally would be much easier however I do not want to make a mistake that I will latter regret.

Thanks

- Stan

One thing you should check in your area, is weather you can gravity feed out of the bottom of the tank, or if you have to pump from the top. Some will not allow a valve below the level of the fuel in the tank. If you can then your fuel pump can pull it from the tank.

First of all you need an aluminum tank - no steel with the vegi oil. I think transfer tanks are usually steel. Steel will react with the vegi oil and create a growth inside the tank. There is a member on this site selling his tank and Vegistroke set up. I'll look for that post and maybe you can contact him about his tank.

Yes this is very true about steel. Both tanks that I am looking at are aluminum. How does the Hot Fox fit into the tank? The Transfer tank has a large threded bung on top (probably 2") The Auxuliary tank has a supply and return (1/2 " I believe). Do you know how the Vegistroke kit fits the hot fox into the fuel tank?

Thanks

The hotfox is drilled to fit the shaft and then screwed down with i think 5 or 6 screws. A threaded bung won't help you for that.
You can use a transfre tank if you have a return line fitting and then the hotfox will be drilled to install and then you need a vent.
