I would say yes on the overhead and no on trying to fit in at the truck stops.

Sometimes it is easier to spend 30k to 40k on a smaller truck and get started
in the hauling biz, that it is to go out and spend 175k to 250k on an 18 wheeler.

The trailers were rear steer with a pony engine remotly operated from the rear chase vehicle. State patrol also escorted them down the interstate.

The rigs looked like this one.

One of my best friends used to drive heavy haul. He has some pictures of rigs that are almost 200 ft long grossing out at about 600,000 lbs hauling those monster mining dump trucks. It's quite an awsome sight.

Can I play, I've had a truck or two??

I ran wreckers in Phoenix Arizona for over 20 years till I sold my interests in the company and moved to Alaska in 2001.

Cut my teeth on Holmes 750s and California Stick Booms like this one, this is the last one I had.

Hear is me playing around with a Century 9060 rotator, my first rotator, and a 5025. I bet the 5025 driver I could tow the 68,000lb rotator with his truck . . . I won!

Here is my best truck ever, my baby, a 2000 T800 3406e/18 speed and every last option KW had. The wrecker is a Canadian NRC sliding rotator, best rotator made with the best wireless remote control.

This was my baby before I got my first rotator in 1996, she is a Century 9055 wrecker on a 89 (I think) Peterbuilt 3406B/15 speed. Got pulled over and warned for 107mph in this truck pulling a loaded tractor trailer out on I-10 west of Phoenix late one night. Ya the B model Cat had just a bit of work done to it . . . the mechanics at Southwest Peterbuilt maxed out and damaged their 650hp wheel dyno with this truck. 12v71 my butt, get a 3406B and someone that knows how to turn them up!

Some pix of me running Big Red on a loaded mixer that broke a 12" mane waterline, easy job for Big Red!
