There's a guy back home named Sanders, he has a built Mack he calls the Silver Bullet. It will pull one hell of a sled...
I used to work as a grease monkey/go to guy for a small trucking co, mostly KWs with Cummins motors and rockwell trannys. There was one Pete, it had a 425 Cat and an Eaton Fuller tranny. Boy the driver tore the clutch out of it once, it made life a living hel for about two days. Also had one old KW with a sleeper. Had a juiced up Cummins, but it ate rings all the time. What a pain in the arse, a gallon of oil every couple of days. But man would that truck pull...

On the other hand I occasionaly have the (dis)pleasure of having to drive the five tons and seven and a half tons, made by AM General. If you ever have the opportunity to drive one of these rigs, pass on that.

I figured a few would come out for exhibition type stuff or something....

If you really want to see them, go to Bowling Green, OH the 3rd weekend in Aug. They spend one entire session pulling nothing but semi's, freakin' awesome! Also, check pulltownusa.com and bigrigspulling.com

I can't get either of those sites to come up on here! This computer is going to hit the wall at mach 10 very soon......

I drive OTR

Statute height is 13'6". Some states allow 14'. Yes it does pay more than local, but at a price. Home time. Also see alot of guys go broke out here if they don't curb their spending. I got the chrome bug with my first truck. Over 5k in 2 years. And chrome don't pay the bills. I've with stood the fuel prices so far. But I don't spend money out here. In a few weeks I'll be an independant car hauler like Fordnut85. More money with less overhead than a semi. And the best of all, I get to drive my Powerstroke everyday! Being OTR, is for me, one of the best things I ever did. I was a manager in a grocery store before.

'02 Freightliner Century Class ST, 460 Cummins, 10 speed Eaton, 336 rears, with 22.5 rubber makes a 120 mile an hour truck! But I wouldn't do that.

Congrats on your new over the road job hauling cars. I've often thought about that; my F350 dually is all set up for fifth wheel, but I am too busy to get on the road.

Do spend a lot of time hauling cars for myself and if I remain high bid on this 55 frame-off restore on eBay for another day and a few hours, looks like I will be going to the MidWest to pick it up next week. Two months ago, I picked up a truck in Montana (at the edge of North Dakota). Eighteen hundred miles in two days. Couldn't have done that if I had to keep a log book. For that matter, last month I couldn't have hauled Lem's 2002 Cummins from racing in Utah in one day.

Sorry for the rabbit trail. Your dually looks good. Hope you get some good contracts.

I've always loved big trucks, main reason I became a diesel mechanic. Turned wrenches on a whole host of Freightliners, Kenworths, and Petes when I was working in the shop for a trucking company. Enjoy drving them more when I get the chance, which isn't much anymore. My fav. that I usto drive when I was working for a Co-op was an Int'l 9400 converted into a straight truck with a dry fertilizer hopper on the back. 425hp N14 Cummins w/ Eaton 9 spd. boy was that to much power for that truck. Also got to drive a Pete 378 from time to time and boy could it bellar, it was only an 350hp N14 tho.

I'm a big fan of Kenworth W900L's tho. If I ever went over the road I'd want to call that home.
