FMCSA final cell phone ban
linky
News Release - Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration didnt get to read the whole thing, but i believe any 10,001 pound up commercial vehicle no cell phone use (bluetooth and CBs are still ok) or a fine up to $3,000 for the driver and $11,000 for the company |

Ouch, thats a big fine.

$2750, same as if you get caught texting, but drive a 4 wheeler and be free to do whatever you want.

I run my own business and need to use mine, I do use an earpiece though.

As soon as I heard about this I ordered a bluetooth. I never talked much before. Now any talking I do will be legal. Way not worth the risk. And of course, nothing handed down to the worst culprits of phone use and driving... the general public.

Here they just banned cell phone use while driving for everyone on the road

Seems fair though. If they're gonna ban it at all. Might as well be for everyone.

Hand held ban or total ban?

even if they did ban texting and using a phone while driving for 4 wheelers it would be extremely hard to enforce. it would be like drinking and driving, you know they're out there you just have to find them.
