Hey guys just wondering if anyone has any info or could point me in the right direction about making more power. I have an International DT466E dump truck that im lookin to get some more power out of the beast. Its a 2001 single axle. I have looked into it and was told i can get a chip but it only adds 8 hp!!!! Is this right ?
Not looking for alot more i know a guy with twins on his and thats overkill for me . Any info agian is greatly appreciated thank in advance !!!!!!! |

It's almost as simple as adding power to a mechanical injected engine. The expensive part is injectors, since they use the same parts as a P'Stroke, you can get the idea of cost(around $300 ea.), then a better turbo, or modify the turbo it has. Then, adding a performance module like an MP8 or Edge will bring it all together. By no means cheap, but these mods will get it over 300hp, and can get it to around 400 with the right injector & turbo work.
For a cheaper alternative, take it to a dealer for a reflash. Then, do the oil temp sensor trick, and hike up the fuel pressure listed in my signature. The 10k mod doesnt do much with the 466E. Last edited by nevrenufhp; 10-02-2010 at 03:38 PM. |

Unbolt DT-466 and install CAT 3406E rated at 550 HP, problem solved.

look up pittsburgh power performance .... if they are still in business..... they have a switch with eight power levels and each turn added 25 hp to a 550 cat

Pittsburgh is still in biz, but they dont make anything for a 466E. No amount of electronic gadgetry will overcome tiny injectors, unless you're just looking for a few hp.
