Whats your 359 got in it for power? Is it a big cam cummins? How did you like the 389 when you had it? We are looking into a new tractor at work and i'd like to get either the
389 or a W900L. I'm gonna get one with CAT power though.

the 359 has a 3406B CAT...and about the 389, it was a great truck...I dont want anybody to get the impression that I sold it because I didn't like it...it was just too nice (and expensive) for me...it had plenty of power and the cab was very comfortable...I would have loved to keep it but there was really no point in it...but I don't know about the CAT, I havent driven any of the new CAT's, but the Cummins is a good engine in the 389

You can't beat an old 425 3406B mechanical CAT! Those are some of the best engines ever built. I like both cummins and CAT. We have an 05 435hp accert CAT at work and its been great. I wish they still made the big cams or at least the N14's. You are right, the cummins does get better fuel mileage, but i think the cat will out run and outlast a cummins. I would be proud to drive either an ISX or a C-15. I read a magazine article the other day in a trucking mag that said cummins and cat were rated highest in driver satisfaction and overall quality. So i don't think you can go wrong. Just stay away from those MBE mercedes and series 60 detroits. The new ones i heard are nothing but trouble.

Det. S. 60

I have driven trucks with every motor u can think of in them the two best i have run in had the CAT C-15 425 H.P. and the other had a Cummins ISX 470 H.p. and they very great all around power, mpg's, and mechanically. as for the mbe 4000 i just posted asking about them as i am looking at a western star tractor with that engine and judging by your comment and some others i thinks i am staying away. Det. S. 60 that i have run was down with cylinder prob. more then running the big road. Way to go on the purchase anyway, gotta love them petes and cats.
