08 6.4 vs 89 bmw e30 turbo

okay so before it happens id like to get an idea of what it will be like, good friend of mine just finished a turbo setup on his 89 bmw 325 2 door. he did everything needed for the turbo upgrade, tranny, studs etc. now the car is very small and incredibly light so what do yall think?

From a dig you would take him with a boosted launch. Assuming he can get traction from a roll I would say the bmw would take you.

What motor is he running? That's a 2800 car in full trim, so it's light. The amount of power he is making depends on the motor he is running. But even an E motor with a good turbo will make ~260rwhp, enough to cause you some issues. An i motor with a decent turbo should be right under ~300rwhp. If he did any kind of motor swap to an E36 style inline 6 then you're done, even from a dig :-) Those E36 motors have a gob more lower end with the vanos system they have and even when NA can propel an E30 325 to a high 13 in the 1/4.

no engine swap i believe its an i motor, was talking to him today, says he has no traction at all in 1st and 2nd, he is putting in an lsd this weekend though.
i think he would have to feather in and out of the throttle quite a lot so id like to see how id do from a 4wd non boosted launch

makes me sad, last year my car just mopped the floor with him

If he doesn't have an lsd yet he def. will have trac issue. Even with one, he'll be all over the place in 1st and 2nd. They're fun cars, bet that thing is going to pull like crazy on the highway. Good luck!
